A Midsummer Night's Dream

If complicated love stories are your thing, then Amici Touring Theatre’s forthcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream should definitely appeal.

Lysander loves Hermia; Hermia loves Lysander; Helena loves Demetrius who used to love Helena but now loves Hermia. Hermia’s father wants his daughter to marry Demetrius so Hermia and Lysander escape to the forest, followed by Demetrius and Helena.

In the forest all is not as it seems. Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the Fairies, are unable to agree about a boy Titania has adopted. As love potions are sprinkled liberally, not always landing as intended, confusion abounds.

Meanwhile, a group of craftsmen are rehearsing a play, a rather fumbling version of a Greek love story, to be performed at the wedding of the Duke of Athens.
